The Monsoon rains cast a magical spell on the dry and parched land. The aroma of the first rain is intoxicating, the sights of flora and fauna is breathtaking. As the dark clouds start to gather in the sky we embark on a journey to celebrate rains. Held every year around the Indian Independence Day weekend, ‘Monsoon Sojourn’ is a journey to celebrate rains. Navigating through the scenic backroads the ‘Monsoon Sojourn’ takes us to some of the most beautiful and offbeat locations, which are some of the best kept secret of the Monsoon. Join us as we explore the Tribal lands of Rajasthan this Monsoon.

11th August


Jaipur to Dungarpur

530 Kms

We gather early morning at the WM for a compulsory safety briefing to prepare us for the upcoming adventourous days. After the briefing, your vehicle will be fitted with radio communication and Monsoon Sojourn stickers. We shall then get ready for the expedition.

Day 1 is the longest day of the entire journey. We shall start our ride on the beautiful highways of Rajasthan. Halfway through we shall  skip the highway and take a route through the beautiful backroad covered both sides with lush green forests. Enroute, you we visit Jagat, an ancient temple, Jaisamand lake, Chavand the capital Rana Pratap had built after battle of Haldighati and finally Deo Somnath temple.

Jagat is more than a 1000 year old temple. Deo Somnath is a 12th century temple on a river bank. It has resemblance to Rankpur and carvings are similar to Khajurao Temple.

12th August


Dungarpur to Banswara

160 Kms

After a relaxed breakfast we leave to visit the Udai Bilas Palace and Juna Mahal to see a one of a kind Sports Bar, Dungarpur Mews. On display here is an exquisite collection of Vintage Cars, Motorcycles, Airplanes, Cannons and many more collectibles from the past. Juna Mahal is decorated with beautiful frescos and glass work, a sight to behold.

Later we head down to Banswara, enroute we stop at the confluence of Som and Mahi river which hosts the Tribal Kumbh fair every year. The day ends with a beautiful sunset followed by a relaxed evening sharing the travel stories.

13th August


Banswara local trip

50 Kms

We head out to the City Palace to meet the King of Banswara HH Maharawal JAGMAL SINGH II Bahadur. His Highness has been kind enough to let us and show us around the City Palace entry to which is otherwise prohibited for public. We then head out to explore His Highness Bai Talab, a beautiful lake beside the Mahi Dam. Later we take a beautiful drive alongside Mahi Dam to reach Chacha Kota, a high vantage point for some breathtaking vistas.

14th August


Banswara to Menal

370 Kms

We ditch the conventional route today. Instead, we take the beautiful winding backroad. This route takes us through the catchment area of the two largest dams of Rajasthan. The route breaks the stereotypical image of Rajasthan being a desert state. We enter Madhya Pradesh briefly to pass through the biggest dam of this trip, Gandhisagar. The day ends with the roaring sound of the Menal waterfall. Our stay is at a resort right besides the waterfall.

15th August


Menal to Jaipur

280 Kms

The day begins with soaking up to a beautiful sunrise, a stroll exploring the waterfall and surrounding jungle. We then take up an intetesting route which once used to be a railway track now a road. The 'signals' and 'railway stations' are still in place. Further up,  we will explore the surroundings of one of the largest dam of Rajasthan. The eventful week ends at Jaipur where we all bid adieu and head to our respective places.
